Formally described in 2021, the Stegouros lived in southern Chile approximately 75 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous period. It belonged to the ankylosaur family, a group of armored herbivorous dinosaurs, and grew up to two meters long. The Stegouros had a large, heavy tail which resembled a macuahuitl, a club used by Aztec warriors.
